Join us as we celebrate H.C. Andersen's works in a grand tribute. Starting on August 4, 2025—150 years after his passing—and continuing into the autumn, the city will come alive with exciting events.

H.C. Andersen didn’t see death as a final ending. And even if you’ve never met him in person, you’ve encountered his immortal soul through his words—in his fairy tales, poems, and stories.

The 150th-anniversary commemoration brings new life to Andersen’s works that explore themes of life and death, loss and memory, the afterlife, and immortality. Andersen experienced significant fame during his lifetime, and he was deeply curious about how people—both in his own time and in the future—would perceive him.

Today, his works still resonate, from Nr. Nebel to New Delhi. Just as he once dreamed they would.
