You can rent bikes at First Grand Hotel, Cabinn Hotel or at Nørregade Cykler.

What is the address of the Hans Christian Andersen House?
How many guests can visit the new Hans Christian Andersen House simultaneously?
The new museum has a maximum limit of 250 guests at a time.
How big is the Hans Christian Andersen House?
The museum proper covers 5600 m2 - two thirds of which is under ground. The garden covers 7000 m2 and the total museum area covers 9000 m2.
Is the Hans Christian Andersen House suitable for wheelchair users?
The museum is suitable for wheel chair users. You can enter the lower part of the museum via a 110 meter ramp or you can choose to use the elevator.
Do I HAVE to book tickets for the Hans Christian Andersen House in advance?
Yes, you definitely should. Click here Booking-link and book your ticket for the date and time slot you are interested in. Any unbooked tickets will be sold at the museum, but some days will be sold out in advance.
Can you bring your own food to H.C. Andersen's House?
You can bring your own food and eat in the garden. If you did not bring anything, you can buy something at the museum Restaurant DEILIG that offers a menu inspired by Andersen's writings.
Can I bring my dog when I visit the Hans Christian Andersen House?
No, you can't. Not even if it is tiny / is carried in a bag / is the cutest thing ever. Sorry.
Can you book a guided tour of the Hans Christian Andersen House?
The museum does not offer guided tours of the museum. You can book a 30 minute introduction to the museum - it costs DKK 650,00 - maximum group size 30 persons. After the introduction guests can visit the museum on their own with the included audio guide.
Can I visit the Hans Christian Andersen House with a push-chair/pram?
The museum owns a couple of push-chairs you can borrow. It is not possible to enter with your own stroller, push-chair, pram or the like.
What does it cost to visit H.C. Andersen's House?
The price for adults (18 and up) is 165 DKK.
Groups of at least 20 adults pay 155 DKK per person.
Children under 18 are free.
NOTE: it is necessary to book a ticket online BEFORE visiting, including for children, even if they don't pay admission.
Where is it most convenient to park when you visit the Hans Christian Andersen House?
P-15 in Odense P is the closest option. You can enter the museum area directly from the parking garage via exit P15.
Tourist bus parking
- Short-term parking in the city center (eg in Sortebrødrestræde) is for unloading / loading of tourists.
- Long-term parking must take place on the stretch between Havnegade 106 and Havnegade 110.

Are there baby-changing facilities in the city center?
Yes, there are several places with baby-changing and nursing facilities. Find more information here.
Do you have a list of bank holidays in Denmark?
Yes, yes we do. Visitors should know that if they visit us on a bank holiday, most shops will be closed and probably some restaurants as well. Denmark, however, is quite relaxed about bank holidays and you will always be able to find a supermarket/restaurant/café/etc. that stays open.
In general, attractions stay open regardless and some will even stay open on Mondays (in Denmark, attractions often close on Mondays) if they coincide with a bank holiday.

Currency
Denmark uses Danish kroner (DKK), not Euros, so make sure you either bring cash or appropriate credit card. Generally you can go anywhere with a Visa or a Mastercard. American Express is also widely accepted. Remember to bring your pin code.
Where can I find luggage storage in Odense?
At the central train station you can find luggage storage next to the ticket office.
There are 4 sizes:
- Small (35 cm x 45 cm x 85 cm) - 30 DKK/per day
- Medium (52 cm x 45 cm x 85 cm) - 50 DKK/per day
- Large (35 cm x 94 cm x 85 cm) - 60 DKK/per day
- XL (52 cm x 94 cm x85 cm) - 80 DKK/per day
You can pay using Dankort, Visa Dankort, Vpay, Visa Electron, MasterCard and MaestroCard.
Public washrooms
Public washrooms can be found all over the city and are typically grey/black boxes located in the pedestrian zone. Some are free - some charge up to DKK 5.
Where can I bring my dog?
Dogs are welcome in many places.
In general, dogs are not allowed inside restaurants, but this is up to the owner and they will sometimes make exceptions. Usually there is no problem in outdoor serving areas.
Can I go canoeing on Odense River?
Yes, you can. During some months of the year, access is restricted. Click to see a map of the river with information about restrictions
Where can I park in Odense?

The site is in Danish but should be quite easy to understand. The colours green, yellow and red indicate whether or not there are any available spaces - blue means that it is not part of the automated system, so you will have to take your chances.
On the page it is possible to filter by payment method, so scroll down a bit and choose your credit card to see a list of parking spaces you can choose from.
Please note that practically all information regarding parking and payment will be in Danish and that you will need a credit card in many places. Parking fines in Denmark start at app. 600 DKK, so try to avoid them.
Shopping
What are the opening hours for shops in Odense?
Opening hours vary by store, but in general, shops in the city center are open Monday to Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM, Friday from 10 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Many stores also open on the first Sunday of the month.
Can I visit the Odense Marcipan factory?
No, unfortunately not. Due to Danish safety regulations for food production, Odense Marcipan is not able to open its doors to the public. You can, however, buy their products in most larger supermarkets as well as in sweet stores all over Odense.
Transport
Does Odense have an airport?
Yes, absolutely. Just north of the city you will find the Hans Christian Andersen Airport.
Where can I rent a car?
We have several car hire companies in Odense. Please note that not alle companies listed are national, so if you need to return your rental car in a different city to where you rented it, make sure the company has an office there and allows returns in other locations.
Can I park my car near a light rail stop?
Yes, at the Parkering Odense Syd light rail stop, there are plenty of parking spaces, and in certain areas, you can park for up to three days.

Can I bring my bike on the light rail?
Yes you can - its even free. You can also bring your e-scooter, skateboard, pram, stroller and so on. Remember to hold on to your bike so it doesn't fall over.

Where is the low emission zone in Odense?
Odense is one of the cities that has a low emission zone. Within the low emission zone, diesel-powered lorries, buses, vans and cars must comply with special requirements for particle emissions. The zone is limited by Ring 2 and all approach roads are clearly signposted that you are entering or leaving the low emission zone.

What is a Rejsekort?
Rejsekort is an electronic ticketing system for travelling by bus, train, and metro. Rejsekort unites the different transport operators, travel zones, ticketing systems, and discount schemes into a common system, which makes it easier for passengers to use public transport services in Denmark.
How can I buy a ticket for the Odense Lightrail?
This easiest and cheapest way to travel with the light rail is by scanning the QR code you'll find at all stations. It leads to a payment solution that works on all newer smartphones. It's also the cheapest option at only DKK 15 per journey.
Just like in the buses, you can pay with a Rejsekort or you can download the Rejsebillet app. You can, however, also buy a ticket in the following shops, all conveniently located close to one of the stops:

Free transportation
Odense has a free city bus that runs app. every 20 minutes. To find the nearest stop, click this link for a map.
Can I buy a discounted bus ticket for Fyn?
Yes, there is!
Whether you’re planning a city trip, a beach day, a tour, or something entirely different, a day ticket makes it easy and affordable to explore all the cities and attractions on Funen. For just 75 kroner, you can travel as far and as much as you like on the selected day.
Here’s how it works:
It’s really simple. Purchase your ticket through the RejseBillet app or at a FynBus ticket center. Please note that you cannot buy this ticket with cash on the bus. The day ticket costs 75 kroner per person and includes:
- Unlimited travel across Funen and Langeland using FynBus buses and the Odense Light Rail.
- Validity for the entire day of purchase, plus for trips that start before 03:59 the following morning.
- Free travel for up to two children under 12 years old on the same ticket.
- Validity on both FynBus buses and the Odense Light Rail.

Is there a city map of Odense?

You can also pick up maps and tourist brochures at the entrance hall of Odense City Hall and at Borgernes Hus near the train station.
Where can I find the tourist information office in Odense?
Currently there is no open main office in Odense. If you need information please visit Borgernes Hus by the train station or give us a call (our phones are open). See Contact for details.
During the summer you may encounter some of us manning small mobile stations with information material. We will generally be stationed in front of City Hall and sometimes in the historic quarter by the Hans Christian Andersen House.
