Ride the Christmas Express through Odense all December 

Journey through the city’s Christmas-lit streets and feel the peaceful holiday spirit as the city buzzes with life in its modern form. The Christmas Express combines a traditional, cozy Christmas atmosphere with the dynamic energy of a modern city.

The experience is presented through paper cutouts that evoke memories of childhood Christmas tales. At the center stands the decorated Christmas tree, where the little match girl lights the final candle, while a princess is lifted by a robotic arm—a picture of nostalgia meeting innovation. Garlands wind like the Light Rail tracks, symbolizing the journey through the city. Layer by layer, you’ll uncover references to H.C. Andersen’s stories and Odense’s iconic buildings—from historical monuments to modern architecture.

How to Participate
Join by scanning QR codes on posters located throughout Odense city center, at light rail stations, in Rosengårdcentret, and Tarup Center. (see list below)

Access the game by scanning the QR code on this page or any of the posters mentioned above. Once the game opens (or after downloading the app as a new user), you’ll need to grant the app permission to access your phone's location.

How to Play
The Christmas Express is an interactive game where you search for and collect virtual Christmas decorations hidden throughout Odense, including the city center, Rosengårdcentret, Tarup Center, and on the light rail.

• When you start the game, you’ll see a map of Odense.
• Your current location is marked by a blue dot.
• The map shows the locations of all the Christmas decorations you can collect.
• When you’re close to a decoration, you’ll be able to collect it for your virtual Christmas tree.
• Each decoration comes with an entry into a weekly prize draw. To earn an entry, simply collect the decoration.
• The total number of decorations you’ve collected is displayed in the app.
• There are 26 decorations in total, and each can be collected once per day during the game period.
• Collecting a decoration from the same location on different days gives you additional chances to win in the next prize draw.
