Odense Jazz Festival

Welcome to Odense Jazz Festival 2024

This year, the festival celebrates its 5th anniversary and has thus established itself as a recurring event for all jazz enthusiasts. The program features a dazzling array of local, national, and international names representing jazz in all its forms: from swing to Latin and avant-garde, from solo concerts to big bands.
From the USA, we have the fantastic bassist and composer Michael Formanek, who played with the likes of Stan Getz and Freddie Hubbard back in the '80s. Today, he is a prominent figure in modern jazz on the New York music scene. From Spain, saxophonist Alexey Leon brings his wildly swinging Afro-Cuban-inspired music, and from Germany, singer Lisa Bassange explores the world of music in her unique way, rooted in jazz.
Another highlight will be the Odense Big Band's collaboration with the Japanese composer and pianist Makiko Hirabayashi.
